Diameter Interfacing

Diameter becoming the principal connectivity protocol In next generation broadband networks, it is fundamental that products support Diameter interfacing as soon as possible. In the next few years more and more operators will adopt to all-IP networks, which means control signaling will migrate to Diameter. This protocol will be necessary for nearly any system in an all-IP network, as it provides authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) functionality, as well the required connectivity and interfacing for many key broadband systems in the Data and Control plane. Furthermore Diameter enables the exchange of information between network operators (for roaming purposes).

RADIUS-Diameter interworking

Service continuity between Fixed Line, Wi-Fi and Mobile network assets Subscribers use more and more different devices to access the network that they happen to be on (3G, LTE, Fixed or Wi-Fi). When they go online, users want access to their services whatever the network, device and location, at home, on the way or in the office. Communication service providers are looking for ways to monetize and leverage their existing Fixed Line network assets by associating them with high growth mobile services. The ability to connect RADIUS and Diameter network elements allows service providers to enable service continuity scenarios with converged policy control and integrated data bundles. Examples of such converged services are: common charging and subscriber policies across access networks, automatic access to Wi-Fi offload, seamless roaming scenarios between access providers including authentication and accounting of the subscriber, portable security and service assurance amongst others.

Taco Schoute Taco is responsible for General Management and Business Development at BroadForward. He has over 20 years of international experience in the telecommunications sector providing high revenue generating solutions for 8 out of the 10 largest mobile operators in the world. He has held various senior roles, including general management, sales, business development and marketing. Before joining BroadForward he worked many years at Acision, at the time the world leader in SMS and mobile data, as Head of Messaging. Steven van Zanen Steven is responsible for Product Management and Marketing at BroadForward. He comes with extensive experience in the telecommunications industry, having led multiple innovations in areas such as signaling interworking, mobile broadband, messaging and advertising. Over 20 years, he has worked with the largest operators in the world and partnered with many leading technology partners and product vendors. He is well known to the press and media. Before joining BroadForward he held several senior management positions including Head of Mobile Broadband and SVP Strategy and Marketing at Acision. Robert Groenenberg Robert is responsible for development, product architecture and technology roadmap at BroadForward. Robert has extensive experience in development of high-performance carrier-grade software products for mobile networks. Robert has held various senior R&D development roles at international telecom equipment vendors, including Tekelec and Lucent Technologies. Robert brings over 20 years of experience in telecoms product development in the areas of messaging, routing and gateway products built and supported for mobile operator networks globally. Erwin Schouten Erwin heads up R&D. He has worked with startups and specialists such as mBlance, Tekelec, and Nortel. He has gained deep experience developing carrier-grade software and mission-critical systems for large-scale networks. He spent over 12 years in fintech, progressing from Developer to Engineering Manager, where he focused on building resilient platforms and leading high-performing development and DevOps teams. Most recently, he managed an NGO technology team, creating a remote, self-organizing unit and collaborating with nearshore and offshore partners. His leadership emphasizes technical excellence, collaboration, and enabling teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions. Sjoerd Somsen Sjoerd is responsible for Operations at BroadForward. For over 20 years Sjoerd has been responsible for deploying, integrating and supporting high-performance core network functions at mobile operators globally. He has worked as operations engineer at leading vendors such as CMG and Acision before joining BroadForward over 10 years ago.
