BroadForward has officially joined Phase II of the Future Network Services (FNS) program, running from July 2026 through 2030.
Supported by the Dutch National Growth Fund, FNS is a high-profile consortium uniting leading Dutch tech companies, telecom pioneers, and research universities (such as TNO, TU Delft, and TU/e) alongside international ecosystem partners. The initiative aims to build a resilient, intelligent 6G ecosystem and establish open digital autonomy for the Netherlands and Europe within global value chains.
The FNS program addresses critical 6G standardization drivers—including AI-driven network software, ultra-reliable low-latency infrastructure, non-terrestrial satellite integration, and advanced security architectures. FNS Phase II transitions early-stage research directly into practical commercial value. Utilizing the National 6G Testbed network across the Netherlands, the program focuses on field-testing live software prototypes, accelerating market deployment, and fostering cross-border collaboration with partners across Europe, Japan, and Taiwan.
As a unique homegrown Dutch software vendor specializing in signaling, especially intelligent routing and security solutions, BroadForward brings deep domain expertise in multi-technology signaling, software-defined control planes, and cross-generation network integration. Participation in Phase II grants BroadForward early access to emerging 6G technical frameworks, close academic collaboration, and active knowledge sharing with industry leaders.
BroadForward’s role centers on bridging current 4G/5G signaling standards with emerging 6G architectures, ensuring faster time-to-market for vendor-independent routing, security, and orchestration technologies.
“Joining FNS Phase II is an important milestone for BroadForward,” said Taco Schoute, CEO of BroadForward. “As a Dutch company with a global footprint, we are proud to collaborate with top universities and leading industry partners. FNS allows us to combine cutting-edge academic research with our agile software expertise—not only shaping upcoming international 6G standards, but accelerating real-world, commercial deployment for operators worldwide.”
Through Phase II, BroadForward reinforces its commitment to home-grown software excellence, strengthening European technological leadership as global networks move toward the 6G era.
