BroadForward lands raft of legacy replacement deals in US, Europe and Asia

BroadForward DRA and STP increasingly popular with operators looking to replace legacy network functions with a converged signaling solution that also supports 5G

Goto vendor for Replacements

BroadForward, leader in intelligent signaling software for 2G/3G, 4G/LTE, 5G, IMS, Fixed, Wi-Fi, IPX and M2M/IoT networks, today announced it has won multiple projects to replace competitor 2G/3G and 4G core network routers (i.e. STP and DRA) across the US, Europe and Asia.

In the last half year alone, BroadForward has won 6 projects for replacing legacy STP and DRA products, often including multi-technology firewall technology and the option to add 5G support (SCP, SEPP). Practice shows that operators have different reasons to replace existing legacy network functions. Typical triggers are products in maintenance mode or going End Of Life (EOL), and  products being designated as coming from a High Risk Vendor (HRV).

5G is heralded as the fastest growing mobile cellular access technology ever. But with network vendors such Ericsson, Nokia and Huawei going after early market share in 5G, operators are increasingly looking elsewhere for more efficient ways to maintain support for legacy network functions.

Greg Collins, Founder & Principal Analyst – Exact Ventures comments: “With many large, end-to-end, networking vendors shifting their focus to 5G technology and market share, BroadForward is one of the few independent signaling experts and who are successful in winning business from operators looking for a multi-technology signaling platform that enables them to combine legacy and next generation (2G/3G/4G and 5G) network functions within the same software environment.”

BroadForward CEO, Taco Schoute added: “5G has a major influence on how operators approach 4G, and even 2G and 3G legacy replacements. It is all about software, flexibility and cost effectiveness. This is where BroadForward excels, as our signaling products are based on a truly software designed, single engine, multi-purpose, multi-protocol solution (BFX USC). It provides routing, interworking and security functionality that works across SS7 (2G/3G), Diameter (4G), HTTP/2 (5G) and various other protocols. Our signaling software is already in use at over 70 service providers around the world, running combinations of core signaling functions for all mobile access technologies including 5G.”
